Designing a Kitchen Around Lifestyle
22 April 2026 · 6 minute read

Before a single appliance is chosen, a better question: how do you actually live? A consultant’s guide to lifestyle-led planning.
Every kitchen we design begins with the same request: tell us about a Tuesday. Not the dinner party — the Tuesday. Who cooks, who hovers, who does homework at the island, where the coffee happens, what time the dishwasher runs.
Lifestyle-led planning turns those answers into architecture. Serious weeknight cooks get steam ovens at eye level and prep sinks in the work triangle. Entertainers get open-sightline extraction and a second dishwasher. Coffee people get a station out of the traffic. Families get drawers children can reach and stone that forgives them.
The appliances follow the life, not the other way around. It is the difference between a kitchen that photographs well and one that, years in, still fits like something tailored.
